Ok now, on to the weekend 👇
The Vibe: Last weekend of February. The days are getting longer and the rain is taking a break. Get outside.
The Weather: ☀️ Dry all weekend. Cold but no rain. Layers, not umbrellas.
Option 1: The Main Event
🚲 BC Bike Show — Kids Zone, Test Rides, and Stunt Shows at the Convention Centre
The Gist: The BC Bike Show takes over the Vancouver Convention Centre this weekend. Browse the latest bikes, test ride e-bikes on an indoor track, and watch stunt riders do things that would make you ground your child for attempting. The Kids Zone supplies bikes (from run bikes up to 26-inch wheels) and helmets, so you just show up with the kid.
Why it wins: Kids 11 and under get in free. They supply the bikes. They supply the helmets. Your children ride around in a safe, indoor environment while you casually browse e-bikes you'll think about buying for the next six months.
The Parent Specs:
📍 Where: Vancouver Convention Centre (East Building), 999 Canada Place
⏰ When: Sat Feb 28, 10 AM–6 PM / Sun Mar 1, 10 AM–5 PM
👶 Ages: All ages. Kids Zone has bikes from run bikes up to 26-inch wheels. Under 11 free.
🚽 Potty: Easy. Convention Centre washrooms.
💸 Cost: Adults $15 online / $16 at the door. Weekend pass $22. Kids 11 and under: free.

Option 2: The "Low Drag" Play
🎟️ Pay-What-You-Can Sundays at Vanier Park
The Gist: First Sunday of the month means pay-what-you-can at three Vanier Park museums: the Space Centre, the Maritime Museum, and the Museum of Vancouver. All three are steps apart in Kits.
Why it wins: Three museums for whatever you want to pay. Hit one or make a morning of all three. The Space Centre alone will buy you a solid two hours of "Wow, look at that!" from basically any age.
The Parent Specs:
📍 Where: Vanier Park, Kitsilano
⏰ When: Sunday, March 1 (hours vary by museum — check each site)
👶 Ages: All ages. Space Centre is the biggest hit with little ones.
🚽 Potty: Easy. All three have public washrooms inside.
💸 Cost: Pay what you can

Option 3: The Wildcard
🎬 Bugonia — Free Movie Night at Mount Pleasant Library
The Gist: The Mount Pleasant branch does free movies on the big screen every other Friday evening. This week it's Bugonia — a comedy about two conspiracy nuts who kidnap a CEO because they're convinced she's an alien trying to destroy the planet. It's exactly as unhinged as it sounds.
Why it wins: It’s a zero-planning night out that costs nothing and doesn’t require committing to a whole “Friday activity.”
The Parent Specs:
📍 Where: Mount Pleasant Library
⏰ When: Friday, Feb 27, 5:45–7:45 PM
👶 Ages: 14+ (rated). This one's not for the little crew.
🚽 Potty: Easy. Library washrooms.
💸 Cost: Free. Grab a voucher at the circulation desk starting at 4:45 PM — only 30 seats.
The Move: Seats go fast. Show up at 4:45 for a voucher, not 5:45 for a chair that's already taken.⚡

⛸️ Last Call: Robson Square Ice Rink Closes Saturday
The Gist: The free outdoor rink at Robson Square wraps up this Saturday, Feb 28. If your family has been "meaning to go" all winter, this is the final weekend. It's open 9 AM to 9 PM, skating is free if you bring your own skates (rentals available on-site), and helmets are mandatory for under 12. Morning is your best bet before the crowds show up for the last hurrah.
The Parent Specs:
📍 Where: Robson Square — 800 Robson St.
⏰ When: Until Saturday, Feb 28. Open 9 AM–9 PM.
👶 Ages: All ages. Helmets mandatory for under 12.
🚽 Potty: There are public washrooms in the Robson Square complex, but they're not always easy to find. Know before you go.
💸 Cost: Free if you bring your own skates. Rentals available on-site for a fee.

Got one friend who’d love this?
Forward this to them and save them an hour of doom-scrolling “what should we do this weekend?”
We’ve got this!
